Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Lane Tutoring's at-home mathematics lessons for high school and ATAR students across the NSW HSC and QLD QCE pathways.
Which students do you tutor?
Lane Tutoring works with students from Year 7 through to Year 12. That includes students who need to rebuild core foundations in junior mathematics, students consolidating their understanding through Year 11, and senior students fine-tuning exam technique in their final year. Every program is built around the individual student's current level and goals rather than a fixed curriculum.
Which subjects and syllabuses are covered?
Support covers both the NSW and Queensland senior mathematics pathways. For NSW that means Mathematics Advanced and Extension 1 & 2. For QLD that means General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. Junior mathematics from Year 7 to Year 10 is also covered, along with dedicated exam and ATAR strategy sessions for students preparing for their final assessments.
Where do sessions take place?
All sessions are delivered in person, at the student's home, across the Sunshine Coast including Buderim and the surrounding suburbs. Lessons are not offered online. Working at home keeps each session in a familiar, focused environment and removes the friction of travel or screens between the tutor and the student.
How are sessions structured?
Sessions are exam-focused and method-driven. Each lesson targets the specific techniques, question types and topics that move a student's marks, taught around how that student thinks. The emphasis is on method rather than raw talent, so students build a repeatable process they can apply under exam pressure.
What happens in the first session?
The first session establishes where the student currently sits, identifies the gaps that matter most, and sets a clear plan for the weeks ahead. It comes with a satisfaction guarantee: if the student isn't satisfied with the first session, the fee is refunded in full.
How do I book, and how much does it cost?
To arrange a session, send through your details on the contact page and you'll receive a reply within 24 hours. Session fees cover the full lesson with no separate travel charge, and availability runs Monday to Friday after school as well as weekends.
